Local façade improvement programs encourage investment in and reuse of historic structures, typically along Main Streets or within historic districts that have upper floor residential uses. Façade improvements can make providing homes in older structures economically-feasible in locations and buildings where poor exterior building conditions are dissuading investment. These programs can sometimes pay for themselves through increased property values. Funding can come from general municipal revenues or state and federal grants. In New Hampshire this effort can be advanced through the expansion of RSA 79-e.
