“I bought 23 years ago… wouldn’t be able to afford this home if I were buying today, and am very worried about being able to continue to afford the property taxes – which continue to increase at a rate faster than my paycheck increases”
– Lyme, NH

Not all challenges facing our region’s homes are well understood, nor do we fully understand whether solutions (such as those that are new or in use elsewhere) would be effective in the region. Keys to the Valley is highlighting four areas that require study (community and trusts, communal and cooperative housing, the housing market value chain, and progressive tax approaches); however, the region should continuously identify additional knowledge gaps through coordination efforts. Studying knowledge gaps is necessary to maintain our ability to apply creative solutions to an evolving housing landscape and making our homes more adaptive and resilient.
