Municipal planning boards and commissions and housing committees should be informed of the needs and benefits of homes with supportive services. Providers of homes with supportive services (through facilities or services) could be asked to give board and committee members information and context on local conditions and needs. With this information, board and commission members can better advance the needed regulatory changes and planning processes to encourage the creation of homes with supportive services so residents can remain in their communities. Municipalities may provide further support by working in advance with developers and/or providers to identify promising locations for creating homes with supportive services.
