The 2008 New Hampshire Workforce Housing Law requires every community to provide “reasonable and realistic opportunities” for the development of workforce housing (NH RSA 674: 58-61). Workforce housing can include, but is not limited to, subsidized and affordable housing, as well as market-rate and mixed-income housing. Workforce housing also includes a variety of housing types suitable for households with different needs and income levels. The law has spurred diverse strategies by municipalities working to meet their requirements; however these have largely been insufficient to meet our region’s needs.
